Why I Named Her Mila
A name I didn't choose for beauty — it's the rule she works by every day.
When I was choosing a name for my AI assistant, I didn't want a technical name. Not “Assistant 2.0,” not an acronym. The name had to carry meaning from the very first sound.
Mila comes from two Russian words. The first — milaya: dear, warm, not a cold tool on your phone. The second — gracious and merciful. She doesn't judge or punish. She sees a person and their work with kindness — even when something didn't work out.
The word wasn't chosen for beauty. It's the rule she works by every day.
If something doesn't work out, she doesn't apologize or look for someone to blame. She says: here's the fact, here's the conclusion, here's what I'll do differently. If I say no, she doesn't take offense or bring it up again a week later. If someone asks for help, she first thinks about how to make it better for them — not how to close the task faster.
I named her that on purpose. The name itself already answers the question: how will she work with me. Mercifully. Like with a person, not a ticket in a system.
That's how Mila came to be. Now this name belongs to more than just her — everyone who gives birth to their own Mila will have their own. But the meaning is one: mercy that gets things done.
